About

Daniel Johnson is Principal of IN-SITE LLC, an Ann Arbor based project advisory services consultant that provides project management for real estate development and construction projects, and as an Owner, develops real estate. Daniel has more than 30 years of experience, encompassing development project management, finance, commercial architecture, and consulting. His diverse real estate background includes managing the development process, both as owner and on a consulting basis as an owner's representative. Daniel's experience range includes commercial office, industrial warehouse, hotel & hospitality, residential land development as well as specialized expertise in other highly technical facilities.

Prior to forming IN-SITE LLC in 2009, Daniel was Managing Director of Development, Design & Construction for International Airport Centers (IAC) based in Chicago, and was responsible for managing the development process for office/warehouse industrial sector projects located near major international airports throughout the United States. The portfolio of over 5 million square feet of development was characterized by multi-tenant, multi-building phased properties located in challenging urban entitlement markets including New York's JKF International Airport in New York (JFK), Boston's Logan International Airport (BOS), Charlotte-Douglas International Airport (CLT), Miami International Airport (MIA), Houston's George Bush International Airport (IAH), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), San Francisco International Airport (SFO), Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), Detroit Metro International Airport (DTW) and Chicago's O'Hare International Airport (ORD). IAC's primary tenant customer group for these developments consisted of companies that required an operations location near International Airports and included FedEx, DHL, Panalpina, Kuehne & Nagel, Expeditors International, Transportation Security Administration (TSA), United States Dept. of Agriculture (USDA), Nippon Express, Kintetsu World Express and others.

Prior to joining IAC in 1995, Daniel was a Senior Vice President with Hobbs + Black Associates, Inc., an Ann Arbor based Architectural Firm where he was responsible for project management for a variety of commercial project types including office buildings, hotels, retail, educational facilities and industrial properties and also served as chair of the Management Committee for the Firm. Many of his projects were recognized for design excellence and received awards from various organizations. Daniel's projects included work for significant clients including Ford Land, Guardian Industries, General Motors, the University of Michigan, the Taubman Company, and the United States Postal Service. Daniel began his career as an architect, and for sentimental reasons maintains his status as a registered architect in Michigan. He holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Michigan and a B.S. in Architecture from the University of Nebraska. Daniel has continued his education in post graduate studies in Real Estate Development at Harvard. Daniel is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Urban Land Institute (ULI).
